E2K7 SP2 RU4/W2K8 SP2  webdav httpu response
We have an application which uses webdav against the E2K7 server. We are having issues with a user and the application company is telling me that the Exch server is not responding with an httpu://xxx/http/1.1 I have checked my iislogs and cannot see any errors. Please any suggestion as to how I can check why the Exchange server is not responding with an httpu notification? many thanks

Can you first checked that webdav is enabled on your Exchange CAS server? 1. Open IIS Manager (start run inetmgr.msc) 2. Web Server Extensions 3. Webdav is it set to allowed? James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

I could not find web server extensions can you tell me where this is
June 1st, 2011 10:47am

It's in IIS Manager, under the Web Sites container in the left hand pane. But the extension you want to check is named 'Microsoft Exchange Server', which takes care of Exchange's WebDAV functions. The one called simply 'WebDAV' takes care of IIS's own WebDAV functions, and is normally disabled.Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP www.owa-pda.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

Oops - you said it was W2K8. It isn't called Web Service Extensions any more. Have a look in ISAPI and CGI Restrictions when you click on the server name in IIS Manager.Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP www.owa-pda.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

You need to install the module. I think that the exprox.dll entry that the OP found in ISAPI and CGI Restrictions is sufficient for Exchange DAV functions.Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP www.owa-pda.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

Exchange's WebDAV is like a plug-in for IIS. So, most properties are configured in Exchange System Manager. But, ultimately, you still have to tell IIS that it is allowed to run it. You say you checked the IIS log, but can you find for us the entries generated by the application when the affected user tries to connect?Outlook Web Access For PDA , OWA For WAP www.owa-pda.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

The telcom team purchased NEC's UM8500 Voicemail/Unified messaging. So after the fact they get me involved. What they never realized when they purchased the UM8500 that it uses webdav. and it also has its own messaging database; so, we have to keep two messaging databases in sync: the Um8500 and E2K7 databases. NEC is saying that for this one user, E2K7 server is not responding with an httpu/http1.1: Here is some of the trace from the UM8500: [2011-05-10 06:04:42.8868] [DEBUG] [ActiveVoice.UnifiedMessaging.Manager.AvSynchronizationService] [12] - ProcessSyncQueueThreadProc: processing [SynchronizationAction: ProcessNotification - ActiveVoice.UnifiedMessaging.DAL.AV_UM_GetNotificationsResult] [2011-05-10 06:04:42.8868] [TRACE] [ActiveVoice.UnifiedMessaging.DAL.DAL] [12] - IsNotificationInDatabase(19396551) enter [2011-05-10 06:04:42.9024] [TRACE] [ActiveVoice.UnifiedMessaging.DAL.DAL] [12] - IsNotificationInDatabase exit. Hi You can read this article about WebDAV of EMC. According to your saying, it is just one client problem. If you have a WebDAV integration, which udp port is used by default to receive the HTTPU notifications? Can you check network setting of your client computer? The issue is with the Voicemail / Unified msg application (which is not MS). We have the UM8500 and the telecom grp did not ask any one before they purchased. So we have two message stores: the UM8500 keeps sync with the Exchange msg store - nightmare. For this one user we get what is called a redelivery each morn on the recheck of the msg stores. So NEC is saying the redelivery is because the Exchange server is not sending back an httpu notification which basically says I received the message and the UM8500 can clean the msg from its msg store and not redeliver. Perms are fine. I have looked at my IIS logs and I see the subscribe, etc for this user. We do know nothing is wrong with the Exch sending the httpu notification because we have over 400 users who are not having any issues. We have tracked the UDP packets from Exchange and only this one problem. My question I can I find out for this one user?
